Van Buyten emerges as Celtic target

Gordon Strachan is interested in bringing Bayern Munich defender Daniel Van Buyten to Celtic Park, the player’s agent has revealed.
Bolton boss Gary Megson is known to be lining up a move to take out-of-favour Bobo Balde to The Reebok Stadium, and Strachan already appears to be making contingency plans to reinforce his central defensive options.
"It is true that Celtic are very interested in Van Buyten,” agent Christophe Henrotay told the Sun. "Gordon has been on the phone to ask me about Van Buyten.
"Daniel would like to stay with Bayern, but anything is possible because at the moment he is not playing regularly."
Van Buyten, a Belgium international, has cut a peripheral figure at the Allianz Arena this season, starting just five times in the Bundesliga.
He has previously played for Marseille and Hamburg, as well as having a brief loan spell in The Premier League with Manchester City in 2004.
