Murray joins Shrews

Murray joins Shrews

Paul Murray has left Gretna to move south and join League Two side Shrewsbury in a two-year deal.

The 31-year-old captain was a member of the team relegated from The SPL this season.

Things are even worse for the club off the field with the possibility of being wound up a distinct possibility.

Murray is hopeful that his former club, who have been in administration since mid-March will survive, and the whole episode has been stressful for the midfielder.

“It was tough but it has stood me in good stead,” Murray told the Shrewsbury Town official website.

“Not getting paid and what was going on meant it was mentally tough.

“I worked hard all season despite those problems and I feel that I did well and think I’ve deserved this move.”

Setanta readers' comment of the day

“I wish we didn't sell the guy. Phil is the definition of loyalty and I'm sure he'll end up with legendary status at your club as he did ours. There's not many players like that these days, and I'm glad he's playing an important part for another great side. Peace.”
