Yogi can't bear lack of character

Falkirk manager John Hughes hit out at his players for not showing enough character against Kilmarnock to take anything from the game on Saturday.
After his side’s 2-1 defeat, Hughes said: “It’s been a wonderful season for us, a provincial club; we’ve been punching about our weight for a few years. So to get that seventh spot again so all credit to the boys.
“But if you’re analysing today’s game, be it end of the season, it maybe tells you a story why I didn’t get into the top six. I’ve got a lack of character, no matter where you play your football whether it be 5-a-sides in the back street I think we all have a pride about ourselves to win the match, that was missing today.”
Hughes has already started building towards next season with Jackie McNamara, Neil McCann and Lee Bullen all coming in, and he believes they will provide the character that is missing.
He said: “We were lucky to get away with 2-1 and Kilmarnock thoroughly deserved their match,
“So that’s why I’ve brought in guys like Jackie McNamara, Neil McCann, Bullen, good experienced boys with good character and today they wouldn’t accept that because I’ve got too many guys in there that accept it.”
He continued: “If I had Roy Keane out there would he accept it?
“I wouldn’t have had to go into the dressing room, I’ve not got that in my dressing room and that’s the difference.
"That’s why I’m not in the top six. They’ll bang on your door telling you ‘I’m this, I’m that, I’m the best thing since sliced bread’ – f*****g b******s!”
And with that Hughes left the press room leaving the press in no doubt what he expects from his players next season.
