Spurs winger going nowhere

Aaron Lennon will not be leaving Tottenham this summer, despite reports linking the England international with three different Premier League clubs.

Lennon is reported to have been proposed by Spurs for a part-exchange with Blackburn’s David Bentley, while Newcastle and Everton are also rumoured to have an interest.

Their attempts to prise Lennon away from White Hart Lane would prove futile in any case because it is understood that Spurs have no interest in relinquishing their wing whippet.

Lennon is contracted to Spurs until 2012 and Juande Ramos regards the 21-year-old as a valuable member of his squad.

Who should coach the GB football team in 2012?

Setanta readers' comment of the day

“I'm glad he's staying!! For a few weeks there I thought we were going to get ripped off TWICE in 1 summer! Robbie Keane is a very good footballer but worth £20million i'm not sure. £18million for Barry and £12million for Alonso!! Jesus is it just me or does EVERYONE else see that as terrible business?? Rafa has a plan that he obviously thought Barry would be the perfect cog in his midfield machine but maybe next year, maybe not. I'm not sure about Riera but i'm willing to give him a chance like he deserves!! I hope we win the league this year but Chelsea are looking very strong.”
