Blues complete Phillips signing
by Chris Stanton, 09 July 2008
West Bromwich Albion forward Kevin Phillips has signed a two-year contract with Birmingham.
The 34-year-old makes the short trip to St Andrews on a free transfer following his failure to agree a new contract at The Hawthorns.
Phillips was a prolific scorer in The Championship for Albion and his decision to turn his back on Premier League football in favour of a move to Blues will delight Alex McLeish.
In two seasons at The Baggies, Phillips played 81 times and scored 46 goals.
The former England international, who led Albion to promotion last season and will spearhead Blues' bid this, is the second experienced player to join the club this summer following the earlier capture of Lee Carsley from Everton.
