Fulham's Bobby dazzler?
by Stefano Faccendini, 18 July 2008
Since his exploits with Brighton, Bobby Zamora has struggled to prove his qualities in the top division. His first season at Spurs ended rapidly. West Ham sold Jermain Defoe as Zamora went the other way and faced the challenge of taking The Hammers back into the top flight.
During The Hammers’ promotion season in 2004-2005, he became even more popular among the fans of the team he supported as a boy by scoring three goals in the play-off semi-finals and the only strike in the final against Preston.
Back in The Premier League he played the full 90 minutes only six times in 2005-2006 while during the following campaign he established himself as the main striker in Alan Curbishley’s side.
Last season though, both the competition up front and a serious form of tendinitis limited his chances to shine and Zamora ended up scoring just one single league goal.
West Ham have decided to rely on Dean Ashton, Craig Bellamy and Carlton Cole for the upcoming campaign while Fulham, after the departure of Brian McBride, were after a powerful striker - will Zamora fit the bill?
