Mowbray: Carson's chosen wisely

Tony Mowbray thinks West Brom can act as a suitable stage for new recruit Scott Carson to establish himself as the pick of the bunch amongst England’s goalkeeping hopefuls.
Carson was the latest in a long line to be tipped as England’s future number one when moving to Liverpool in 2005 but has since struggled to take the next step.
Rafa Benitez has been happy to farm the former Leeds stopper out to various clubs, including a season-long spell at Aston Villa last year.
His stock took a nosedive after his blunder – on his full international debut – got the ball rolling in the defeat to Croatia that condemned England to a summer in the wilderness, but Mowbray thinks The Hawthorns is the perfect place for him to recover any damage caused to his reputation.
“Our intention since clinching promotion has been to strengthen all departments of the team,” said the Baggies boss. “
Scott's arrival means we've got strong competition in the goalkeeping position, along with Dean Kiely, Michal Danek and young Luke Daniels, who I'm pleased to say is progressing very well.
“I think he's been looking for some stability in his career after spending a lot of his time as a Liverpool player out on loan at other clubs.
“We're delighted he has decided to make the Albion his permanent home. Scott is one of a group of very talented, emerging, young English goalkeepers.
“Hopefully, we can provide him with a platform to push his career onwards and upwards."
