The most surprising name in the Champions League group stage is BATE Borisov from Belarus who got the 1-1 draw at Gradski against Levski Sofia, which sends them through 2-1 on aggregate.
Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta also prevailed against Olympiakos 3-1 on aggregate.
The damage was done in the first leg when Anorthosis won 3-0, but after violence from Olympiakos fans marred the build-up to the game, the Greek side could only win 1-0 in the second leg.
Steaua Bucharest also upset Turkish giants Galatasaray as Banel Nicolita netted the only goal of the game to send the 1986 European Cup winners through, 3-2 on aggregate.
Gala's rivals Fenerbahce also came into the second leg with the scores at 2-2, but they beat Partizan Belgrade 2-1 with Brazilian Alex de Souza's second goal proving crucial.
Arguably the biggest game of the night came at the Vicente Calderon where Sergio Aguero, Diego Forlan, Luis Garcia and Rodriguez Maxi's penalty put Atletico Madrid through at the expense of Schalke, after the Germans came into the game one-up.
The other ties ended as would have been expected.
Marseille beat Brann 2-1 at the Stade Velodrome thanks to Mamadou Niang's brace, giving them a 3-1 aggregate win.
AAB Aalborg repeated their 2-0 first leg victory over Kaunas on Lithuanian soil, while Dynamo Kiev thrashed Spartak Moscow 4-1 for the second time, this time at home.
Their Ukrainian rivals, Shakhtar Donetsk won 5-1 on aggregate after winning 3-1 at Dinamo Zagreb.
Basle beat Guimares 2-1 after a goalless first leg.
Fiorentina drew 0-0 at Slavia Prague after winning the first game 2-0.
