Advocaat pushes Spurs on Arshavin

Zenit St Petersburg coach Dick Advocaat has reiterated that the ball remains in Tottenham’s court over the proposed transfer of Andrei Arshavin to the north London outfit.
Spurs have been locked in negotiations with Zenit over the Russia international for weeks, with personal terms reportedly having been agreed for some time now.
All that has prevented the transfer from going through has been Zenit’s asking price, which the Premier League side are refusing to meet.
With the close of the transfer window looming time is now of the essence, and Advocaat has confirmed that Juande Ramos’ club are the only party in talks with his over the 27-year-old.
“A year ago he [Arshavin] signed, with full confidence, his contract. So the club is allowed to ask a certain amount of money [for him],” Advocaat said on Setanta Sports News.
“Spurs are not prepared to pay that money, so if they don’t pay that he has to stay.”
