Rush: Let KK do it his way
by Joseph Caron Dawe, 04 September 2008
Former Newcastle striker Ian Rush believes that Magpies boss Kevin Keegan needs to have the rule of the roost at St James’ Park if there is to be any hope of him remaining in charge.
Rush spent a season at the North East outfit for the 1997-98 campaign so has an understanding of exactly how things operate on Tyneside, and he maintains that Keegan needs to be left to “do it his own way” if the success that is craved by the club’s board and fans is to be delivered.
“Newcastle are desperate for someone to bring them success,” said Rush on Setanta Sports News.
“Kevin Keegan is the messiah up there and I think if anyone did take over as Newcastle manager – apart from Alan Shearer – they’re going to have problems from day one.”
Rush continued: “I think they have to let Kevin Keegan do it his own way.
“If he fails he’ll take the blame and I think he has to get what he wants and be able to get on with it, because Kevin Keegan should be managing Newcastle.”
