Latics close on new keeper

Wigan Athletic are poised to recruit Ghana international goalkeeper Richard Kingson, according to manager Steve Bruce.
The Latics allowed Carlo Nash to join Everton on transfer deadline day and now Kingson could arrive as his replacement, joining Chris Kirkland and Mike Pollitt in Bruce’s goalkeeping ranks.
Bruce signed Ghana’s number one for Birmingham in July 2007 and he made only three appearances for Blues before being released at the end of last season.
"Kingson is the No.1 goalkeeper for Ghana and we're hoping he will join us,” Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post.
“At the moment he's with Ghana – they're playing in Libya this weekend, so he should be coming to see us next week.
"He hasn't got a club at the moment and we're allowed to bring in out-of-contract players.
"We need three goalkeepers, and make no mistake, if I hadn't got him lined-up, I wouldn't have let Nash leave."
After leaving Birmingham, Kingson was described as a ‘complete waste of space’ by Blues co-owner David Sullivan as he attempted to discredit some of the signings made by Bruce during his time at St Andrews.
