I won't resign, says Aragones

Spanish coach Luis Aragones does not plan to resign despite suffering another heavy defeat in charge of Fenerbahce.

The European champion is under intense pressure after conceding another catastrophic defeat in the Turkish league.

Kayserispor hammered Fener 4-1 at the weekend, with Julius Aghahowa bagging a hat-trick and sending the yellows to 12th spot after six games played.

The Turkish giants have lost three of their last four games in the league, but Aragones has pledged to fight on at the helm.

“I don’t know what would happen if they asked me to resign,” Aragones said. “But I’ve come here to be useful.

“Losing 4-1 is a bad result but I’ve not come that far to leave already. I’m here to do the best I can and I’m not thinking of quitting.”

Fenerbahce’s fans appear to be missing their old coach, as they sang 'We love you Zico' in the closing minutes of the encounter.

Who should be Arsenal captain?

Setanta readers' comment of the day

“While all big teams (Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool) were busy protecting their best players, Arsenal was in forefront encouraging injury prone Walcott to participate in that useless freindly. Arsenal has a very thin squad and I remember Walcott said it but Wenger didn't take action to add some players. Arsenal players are not made of steel and Wenger should be prepared for such situation. We need Arsenal supporters on the board of Arsenal who can feel the way we feel when the team is losing and they can force Wenger to buy some experience players. Current board members are only interested in profits yet they (profits) don't go into history of the club”
