Davis wants Pompey future sorted
by Alex Livie, 13 October 2008
Sean Davis has confirmed he rejected the chance to join Celtic in the summer, as he looks to secure his future at Portsmouth.
The midfielder was heavily linked with a move to The Bhoys in the summer, but opted to remain at Portsmouth and fight for his place.
The move has been vindicated as Davis has featured regularly in the early weeks of the season, but his future remains up in the air.
Davis is in the final year of his contract and is awaiting news on an offer from the Fratton Park paymasters.
“It's up to the club really,” Davis told The News. “I want to stay.
“I asked for a contract last season and haven't heard back since.
”All I can do is get my head down and see what happens, but I want to play here.
”I had the chance to move to Celtic but wanted to stay in The Premier League and go on a journey with Portsmouth.
“Obviously, I came to the club when they were in a desperate situation. Now they have moved on. That's progress, and I want to move with the club as well.
”Portsmouth are going in the right direction – the owner's given good backing and hopefully we can go on a run.
”I don't want to go anywhere else but at the moment I have no idea where my future will be.
“The ball's in their court, it's always been in their court.”
